Here is the FFmpeg info for one of the MKVs that has embedded subtitles.įfmpeg version N-50460-g393dcbf Copyright (c) 2000-2013 the FFmpeg developersĬonfiguration: -enable-memalign-hack -arch=x86_64 -target-os=mingw32 -cross-prefix=x86_64-w64-mingw32-enable-static -disable-shared -enable-zlib -disable-postproc -prefix=/home/peter/ffmpeg/build/gpl64 -enable-libmp3lame -enable-libx264 -enable-gpl -extra-libs='-lx264 -lpthread' -enable-runtime-cpudetect -extra-cflags=-I/home/peter/cc64/include -extra-ldflags=-L/home/peter/cc64/lib -pkg-config=pkg-config -disable-w32threads -enable-zlib Have you messed with the subtitles settings tab for your LG Blu-Ray player in Mezzmo ? If so, what are the current settings ? Have you tried turning this feature on and then adding the specific language and container format ? I have also seen where many streamer devices will act one way for local content and act differently for DLNA/uPNP content. I've never used it but it looks like you need to specify the languages you want it to render into the video stream. Mezzmo has the same functionality with the Burn subtitles into video file functionality. I'm guessing it is just a matter of tweaking the device profile settings exactly right so that my bluray player sees the file and subs the same way it sees them over USB.OK. Since the files and embedded subs do play fine from a USB stick, it seems to me that they should also work from Mezzmo. I'm looking for a solution where no remuxing is involved. But for videos/shows I download that already have embedded subs, I am unable to play the subs using Mezzmo. That's a good option if I am creating/ripping the videos myself. I no lonegr struggle with different end point streaming devices/software having different subtitle support. I moved to it for all of my rips over a year ago. Of course if you've already ripped the content and have external subtitle tracks, this won't help either. But if it is a situation where it's a foreign language and the DVD/Blu-Ray has a forced subtitle track of just the foreign language spots then this can work well as a solution. The downside is if you have something where you want to turn off/on subtitles then this won't work.

Thank you!I don't know what ripping software you use but DVDfab has a couple of options, direct render to video and only display forced subtitles, which allow the subtitles to be ripped into the video stream and will be displayed on all devices. I have turned on logging and studied the logs to try and figure this out, but still no joy. I have tried using several different device profiles, and I have tried modifying the LG Bluray profile many different ways. But I hate having to extract subtitles on every MKV I have. So the bluray player is capable of playing embedded subtitles. I know that the LG BD390 can read embedded subs in my MKV files, because it works fine when I play the MKV from a USB memory stick. Embedded subs work fine from Mezzmo to my Panasonic TV, but not to my LG bluray player. However, I am unable to get embedded subtitles working on my LG BD390 bluray player.
